New year, new beginnings
This blog, New Year, New Beginnings, was my passion blog for the second semester of my freshman year at Penn State. I believe that it displays some of my best work in organizing and creating a cohesive, interesting, and thought-provoking blog. The posts do not necessarily carry over in theme or idea from one to the other, but each one talks about something that I either enjoy or find stimulating.
women in society: has it really changed?
This blog is my Civic Issues blog from my second semester of freshman year at Penn State. The topic that I chose is women in society and whether or not their role has really changed. The first featured post below (on the left) talks about the struggles that women still face in the workforce when they try to establish a healthy work-life balance. The second featured post below (in the middle) discusses the issue of the word "bossy" and how its relationship to girls and women has created a certain culture that places men and women in different positions when it comes to assertiveness in both life and the workforce. Finally, the third featured post (on the right) explains the many types of body image issues that girls and women face and how certain people and businesses have tried to overcome that and promote a healthy body image for all women.
For the love of lacrosse
For The Love Of Lacrosse is a blog from my first semester as a freshman at Penn State and is devoted to the sport of lacrosse. Lacrosse has been one of my passions for many years now, and each post in this blog explores a different aspect of the game. The first featured post below (on the left) explains my struggle to accept the uniform of female lacrosse players (a skirt) despite the fact that the sport can be so violent that there are rumors of a new helmet rule for all players. The second featured post below (in the middle) describes the origins of lacrosse and highlights the differences between the original game and the game as it is played today. Finally, the third featured post below (on the right) goes through my personal story of lacrosse and how I worked extremely hard to achieve the level of play that I currently have.
